My last post was six days ago - the day Dick was admitted to the hospital - a very scary day for both of us. (He's told his story so many times to so many people now that I don't think he'll care if I share it here.)
Fortunately, he "dodged the bullet" and a cardiac cath showed minimal coronary artery disease. But it was enough of a scare that things are going to change - primarily his diet and his activity level. He's so excited - he's already lost almost 10 pounds. Change will come slow, but I think we're both committed to do this together for our health' s sake.
This is actually the second time that a medical crisis has changed him. Over 30 years ago, he had two surgeries for a brain tumor. Before the surgery, he was too much of a homebody - rarely wanted to do anything or go out just to have fun. But being so sick made him realize how short life is and as a result, he came out of his shell big-time.
Have you, or someone you know, had a much needed wakeup call?
