What a weekend!
Mommy, Daddy, Me, Aunt Angie, Uncle Uncle, Mimi & Papa

Those of you who know me well know how much I adore my 2-year-old granddaughter Emme. She is the light of my and my husband's life. We waited a long time for her - her daddy is 40 and has been married 15 years.
She is so worth the wait. They live northwest of Seattle so we don't get to see her as often as we'd like. So we try to make the most of every minute we have with her.

She may be in the throes of the 'terrible twos' but most of the time, she is a loving, hugging, kissing machine. She is so happy that you can't help but smile when you're with her. And we did just that for four days - plus the zoo, a Mud Hens game, a family reunion, a shopping spree at Toys 'R Us ( a birthday present from her "uncle uncle." (Don't ask.)
So there's no message here - other than I'm
a happy grandma right now. Let me show
you a few reasons why . . .

I'll have to hear the uncle, uncle story. When Kaitlyn, my granddaughter, was a toddler, she couldn't get the terms straight. She called Steve, Uncle Grandpa.

Well, you've got to know my son Paul - he's a free spirit, a musician, an artist. We argue a lot about politics and life views, but it never gets ugly. We just agree to disagree. I love him to death.

He and his wife don't have children and may never have any. But he loves his niece Emme a ton. He gets to see her 2 or 3 times a year (not counting on the webcam) and the older she gets, the more he aches to be her favorite uncle and be a big part of her life.

We had been referring to him as "Uncle Paul" or "Uncle Paulie" with her. But last September, when she was 15 months old and we were all together in Washington state, Paul decided it would be way cooler to be "Uncle Uncle."

So that's all anyone is allowed to call him now if you're within earshot of Emme. And she can almost say it and it sounds too cute. And with him being known only as "Uncle Uncle," how can she not think of him whenever the word "uncle" is uttered?

When we were all together so much last week, you can tell she is really in love with her Uncle Uncle.

I see you and your husband are a Mimi and PaPa too. My sister is Mimi (and her forever fiance is Papa) to her only grand daughter, Emma (with an "a").

    Love the pics!
